October 25 - 27, 2021 / Prague, Czech Republic
The International Biophysics Collaboration (IBC) includes current and new accelerators with programs in nuclear physics applied to life sciences. IBC develops research programs and specific devices for use at various accelerators, and exploits synergisms among the biomedical programs in the different facilities.
ELIMED (ELI Beamlines Medical and Multidisciplinary applications) is an International Collaboration established in 2012 with the aim of gathering together researchers actively working in the field of both generation and applications of novel ion beams accelerated in high-power laser-plasma interaction, also based on the sources available at the ELI Beamlines user facility in the Czech Republic.
Whilst most of the IBC facilities work with conventional accelerators (cyclotrons or synchrotrons), ELIMED is associated to IBC because the goal of biomedical applications of accelerated particles is the same. Therefore, we will organise a joint event with the main goal of bringing the two communities closer together, and triggering additional synergy and cooperation in the fields of ion acceleration, space science, biology, and medical physics.
The BIOMED workshop will be held in the fascinating Prague city centre (Mala Strana) in the Czech Republic on 25-27 October 2021 (TBC) and will include a guided visit of the ELI Beamlines facility.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic is still going on with various travel restrictions and rules for social distance we would like to ask you for completing a short questionnaire that can help us with a successful and effective organization of the workshop.
We are going to confirm the planned term of the workshop at the end of July 2021.
