Round table 1

  • Results and perspectives on current laser facilities
  • Are the current facilities ready to do ignition-relevant direct-drive experiments? If not, what facility modifications are necessary?
  • High priority physics questions that need to be addressed in current direct-drive experiments

Round table 2

  • LPI modeling for ICF: how to take into account kinetic scale processes associated with LPI (stimulated Raman or Brillouin, hot electrons, energy transfer, optical smoothing ) in hydro codes? What are the key features of the reduced models required for hydro codes?
  • PIC codes for ICF: how far are we from including complex spectral/phase structures? is it tractable for a RPP beam? How to assess the role of magnetic fields and collisions, hot electrons, on hydro/global simulations? Can machine learning be used to explore PIC simulations? Can machine learning inform on reduced models driven by data generated from PIC simulations or from experiments?
